Reflections at Fort Canning Hill

September 17, 2010 3 comments
The learning journey to the Fort Canning Hill at end of Term 3 was enlivening.
Being on the trip with you, I feel like it was like learning about the Arts, the Social Studies and English. Learning about sculptures is something that I find it difficult to show in class as by just looking at 2-D visuals in class simply does not justify the intended motives of artists. In this journey, I’d also learnt more about our country’s heritage and Mr Canning. By asking the pupils about what they can say how they feel about a piece of sculpture, I thought it was a reflection time in conversation. What say you, pupils?

We played a question tag game in class today.  This is how we played:

  1. Every group receives 1 plastic spoon.
  2. The person with the spoon will think of an action about how he/she spent his/her September holidays. He/She will act it out in front of his/her group members using a spoon, without speaking.
  3. His/Her group members will take turns to guess by saying, “You played golf during the September holidays, didn’t you?” or “You were playing golf, weren’t you?”
  4. He/She, with the spoon, will reply, “Yes, I did.” or “No, I weren’t.” If the reply is incorrect, other group members will have their turns to guess. If none gets it right, he/she will finally say, “I was playing golf, wasn’t I?”
  5. The spoon will be pass on to the next member after the correct answer is obtained.

Share with us what habits of mind you used in this activity and how the habit(s) had helped you.
