More about Alice in Wonderland

Dear pupils,

In today’s dramatization lesson 1, we learnt how to:

  1. develop awareness of how sound may be used to create atmosphere.
  2. develop listening skills and group awareness.
  3. develop an understanding of status relationships using the technique of  freeze frames.

On hindsight, the activity on Sound Pictures (adapted from dramaresource) reminded us to conduct ourselves properly so that we can effectively communicate our intentions to our team members. What else did you learn? Post a comment.

Who is the conductor here?

I’m delighted to see how you chose to be more out of yourself  in this second activity on Status Pictures (adapted from dramaresource). Most of you were able to recognize who was in ‘high’ power in each freeze frame and articulate which gestures indicated he/she was in authority. Take a look and see if you can find yourself in action! Reflect which scenes in your Alice’s Adventures  in Wonderland depict characters in ’high’ and ‘low’ powers.

I learn that a person in high power is a someone who is taller and stronger. Someone who shouts louder may not be stronger. From pg 28-29, I can see that the queen is in high power and Alice is in low power.

I know that whoever is standing up or bigger is in high power when a person is not standing up or she or he is kneeling is in low power. I loved this experience.

    I agree with Prisha.

The one that is lower power will be very scared of the higher power person.

Examples Alice in the Wonderland booklet:

Page 13 I can see that the caterpillar is in high power but Alice is in low power

    Sean is the conductor.
Our group didn’t do well for this.

How can your group improve, Agnes? What were some of the suggestions shared during the activities on how your group can improve?

Other than we can effectively communicate our intentions to our team members, I also learnt that we can also develop our listening skills, develop awareness of how sound may be used to create atmosphere, to develop group awareness and the person who is standing up or taller than the other person is in high power. The one who is shorter is in low power. In the picture, Sean is the conductor. In chapter 6 of the book, pg 28 and 29, it shows that the queen is in low power and Alice is in high power. The activities that I like most is Alice’s Guessing Game, under Interactive Activities. I like the guessing game because it is like hangman, challenging and easy to play. I would recommend you to look out for it.

The person in lower power will seem to look scared of the person in high power. The person in high power is the one who controls the person in lower power.

I learnt that a conductor is not an easiy chraracter to do because the conductor need to control the voice nicely. The conductor also need to look at the members’s eye to make sure that they are doing well.

The person in lower power must respect the person in the higher power.
